The disodium salt and caustic soda concentrated solution of Koch acid(1-naphthalamine-3 ,6,8-trisulfonic acid) are heated and melted at about 180-190 °C in the heat collector, and then the melt is dissolved in water. Acidification results.

The action with the ferric chloride solution is brown-red. The acid salt has a red fluorescence with blue microstrip and turns reddish purple after adding alkali. H-acid products are generally paste or powder.
